The Flathead National Forest will close the Graves Creek-Trail Creek Road in the Whitefish Range this week due to a slump caused by recent heavy rains.

The road about 11 miles north of Polebridge on the Hungry Horse-Glacier View Ranger District will be closed July 9-12, be reopened July 13-14 and then closed again July 15-16.

This road provides access to Tuchuck Campground, Antley Trailhead and Kootenai National Forest.

The closure will be about six miles from the North Fork Road.

Heavy rains saturated soils behind a retaining wall, causing a slump and the wall to become unstable. Mud and debris behind the wall will be removed to improve drainage.

For updated information on temporary road restrictions, campgrounds and access on the Flathead National Forest, contact the respective ranger district:  Hungry Horse/Glacier View at 387-3800, Tally Lake at 758-5204, Swan Lake at 837-7500 or Spotted Bear at 758-5376.
