Driver intercepts Jamaica-bound check
A Florida FedEx employee looking out for the company’s customers contacted the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office after intercepting a piece of mail from a Columbia Falls resident containing $76,000 on its way to Jamaica. The sender’s family was provided with contact information for a lottery scam phone line, and his wife was advised to be extremely careful about sending money to unknown people. Once the sender is cleared of any criminal activity, the money he sent — which was initially sent along to the Drug Enforcement Agency in case it was connected with drug trafficking — will be returned to him.
