Legion baseball: Mavs whip Lakers; Mariners Harp champs

The Missoula Mavericks rolled by the Kalispell Lakers (24-21 overall, 7-7 league) 17-6 in the first game of a Class AA American Legion baseball doubleheader at Griffin Field Sunday evening.

The second game ran past press deadline.

Jeremiah Crawford drove in four runs, Ryan Pablo and TJ Olson both doubled twice as Mission Valley coasted to an easy victory in the championship game at Griffin Field.

Crawford pitched the first three innings, allowing four hits. He fanned two batters and walked three in picking up the victory.

Pablo and Olson both went 3 for 4. Alex Killian, Crawford and Quinn Harlan all had two hits each.

Mission Valley banged out 17 hits in the finale.

The Mariners scored 60 runs in four tournament games.

“He hit the heck out of the ball and threw well,” Mission Valley coach Jami Hanson said of Crawford.

“It was a good tournament for us ... kind of prepping us for district.”

Mission Valley (43-16) is back in action Tuesday for two conference games at Salmon, Idaho. Today’s game with Dillon in Polson was canceled.

Sunday’s other tournament scores: Medicine Hat 7, Cranbrook 6; Vauxhall 11, Asotin 2; Glacier B 10, Calgary 9; and Edmonton 12, Kalispell 4.

Lewiston Tournament

Moscow 3, Libby 2

LEWISTON, Idaho — The Moscow Blue Devils rallied past Libby, scoring once in the bottom of the fifth to tie it at 1-all and then scoring twice in the sixth to claim the victory.

Libby scored in the top of the sixth to retake the lead at 2-1.

Luke Haggerty had two hits for Libby and drove in a run.

Micah Germany doubled for the Loggers, who finished the tournament with a 2-2 record. Both losses were by one run and on the final two days.

Libby’s next action is Tueday with a 5 p.m. doubleheader at the Bitterroot Red Sox.
