FLORENCE — Libby dropped an American Legion Class A baseball doubleheader to the Bitterroot Bucs on Thursday.

Bitterroot pulled out a 3-2 victory in eight innings in the opener and then rolled in game 2, winning 14-9.

In the first game, Libby tied it up 2-2 in the top of the seventh when Andrew Haggerty led off with a single to right and Josh Foote reached on a walk. Both later scored on singles by Dylon Lane and Luke Haggerty.

Bitterroot, however, won it in the bottom of the eighth. Kadin Beller doubled with one out and scored on a single to center field by Austin Nogle.

“I was happy we were able to come back in the first game, it just didn’t work out for us,” Libby coach Kelly Morford said.

“Overall, I thought we played well despite the losses.”

Libby rocked Bitterroot’s top pitcher — Cody Rolshoven — for 10 hits in the second game. Foote, Jared Winslow, Micah Germany and Oliver Grupenhoff all doubled once.

Bitterroot totaled 16 hits, which included two doubles by Dylan Reed and home runs by Tyler Thorson and Sage Hansen.

Rolshoven homered in the first game.

Libby (30-20 overall, 13-7 league) wraps up regular-season action Sunday hosting Glacier for a doubleheader beginning at 2:05 p.m.
