Death was due to fall

Autopsy results reveal that Cody Johnson, 25, a Kalispell man missing for five days before his body was found in Glacier National Park, died in a fall.

Flathead County Undersheriff Dave Leib confirmed the autopsy results Friday, although he said the final report is not yet in.

“The results of the autopsy are consistent with a fall being his cause of death,” Leib said.

Johnson’s body was found July 12 below The Loop on Going-to-the-Sun Road in Glacier.

He had been reported missing July 8 after he did not show up for work at Nomad Global Communication Systems.  

Johnson reportedly was last seen the night of July 7 getting into a dark vehicle with Washington plates.

Details about the case remain scarce. Leib directed questions to the National Park Service and the FBI, which continue to investigate Johnson’s death.

FBI Public Affairs Specialist Debbie Dujanovic Bertram in the agency’s Salt Lake City field office said Friday afternoon that she was “not able to provide ... any information or comment” about the case, including confirmation of which agency is in charge of the investigation.

A message left with Glacier Park’s public-affairs office was not returned Friday.

A memorial service for Johnson is at 3 p.m. Monday at Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home in Kalispell. To help the family with expenses, a Sherry A. Johnson-Cody Johnson Funeral Account has been established at Rocky Mountain Bank.
