Legion baseball: Loggers, Mariners finish on high notes

LIBBY — Oliver Grupenhoff singled in the third and went back-to-back with doubles in the fourth and six to power Libby to a 10-3 Class A American Legion baseball victory over the Glacier Twins on Sunday in the first game of a doubleheader.

Grupenhoff had five RBIs.

Will Reichel pitched seven innings and held Glacier to three singles. He struck out three and walked three.

In the second game, Jared Winslow went 3 for 3 and drove in two runs in Libby’s 9-2 victory.

Grupenhoff doubled twice while Reichel and Winslow both had a double.

Peter Seymor hit two doubles for Glacier and Austin Robbins had one.

It was the regular-season finale for both teams.

Up next is the double-elimination District Tournament, which begins Thursday and runs through next Monday in Eureka. The top two teams move on to state.

Mission Valley and Libby finished 1-2 at district last year.

Libby is 32-20 overall and finished 15-7 in league.

POLSON — Alex Killian threw a 2-hitter to pick up the victory on the mound in the opener and drove in two runs, along with Jeremiah Crawford, in Game 2 as the Mariners (49-18, 19-5) won both contests with Salmon, Idaho, by the same score.

Killian, normally the Mariners catcher, struck out five and walked just two in six innings.
