Two-hour standoff ends peacefully
After a standoff with law enforcement that lasted more than two hours, a Kalispell man was arrested at a home on Airport Road Sunday night.
According to a press release from the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy investigating a privacy in communications harassment complaint attempted to interview Kevin McCulley, 48, at the Airport Road residence.
“As the deputy was pulling in the driveway the suspect exited his home with a high-powered rifle,” the release states. “The deputy was able to exit the area safely and no gunfire was exchanged.”
The county SWAT team was dispatched and a perimeter was set up around the house.
After negotiations, the suspected left the home unarmed and was taken into custody at about 9:30 p.m.
McCulley initially was charged with felony assault on a peace officer.
