Band plays 40th anniversary concert

Flathead Valley Community Band celebrates its 40th anniversary tonight. The band performs at 7 p.m. at Marantette Park in Columbia Falls as part of the Columbia Falls Lions Club Community Concert in the Park series. To celebrate its anniversary, Flathead Valley Community Band will perform its original set from its first concert, which took place in 1973. Past band directors Lawrence, John Laing and Hank Handford, as well as current director Matt King, each will perform several selections. Breakout groups from the band will also perform. Admission is $3 per person or $5 per family. Free refreshments will be served.
