Did anyone hear someone cry wolf?

A Flathead County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to a Collier Lane home after the dispatch center received a 911 hang-up. The phone in question belonged to a very drunk woman, to whose house the deputy reported he had responded several times due to her getting drunk and calling 911. He reported her complaints were always unfounded and she was a problem every time they responded.

A Birch Drive man reported a pair of dogs had attacked his wife two days in a row while she was walking her terriers on a leash. The day he made the report, a man stopped the dogs but would then not answer the door. The dogs were subsequently seen chasing a child riding a skateboard. The owner claimed to be unaware her dogs were getting out, but while speaking to an animal control officer, one of the dogs, a pitbull-boxer mix, got out and came around the front of the house where they were talking. The woman was given a verbal warning and advised of county dog ordinances.

A nasty neighbor was reported on Ranch Lane by a resident who said he drove by at about 60 miles per hour, and when she confronted him and asked him to slow down, he acted like she had driven over his foot and told her to get off his property. He then followed her back to her property and threatened her, later returning to throw fish on her lawn and threaten to sue her.

A wrathful woman claimed an animal control officer kicked her brother’s dog in the ribs when he was arrested on U.S. 2 Sunday morning.

An Addison Square man both lost and gained something, but they were both losing propositions: Unknown people first took his vehicle, and then returned it with drug paraphernalia inside.

A report of animal cruelty on Foy’s Lake Road did turn up an extremely thin horse, but the animal was found to be 30 or more years old, and its owner had already been in contact with a veterinarian about putting it down before the winter.

A U.S. 2 East woman reported her belief that homeless people might be squatting in her barns after she found sleeping bags and food in the barns. It was determined that the backpack seemed to have been there several months, but an extra patrol was planned for the area.

A Sunset Place woman saw several college-aged men going door to door and shared her concern that they were casing the area, but she was advised they were selling cleaning products.

An emergency room worker reported a 5-year-old may have been sexually assaulted on Friday.

A discarded but still-lit cigarette sparked a small grass fire on the side of U.S. 2 in Evergreen.

Several adventurous youths were reported jumping off the Stillwater Bridge on Conrad Drive.

A group of transients who set up camp on Conrad Drive were advised to move along.

A Sinopah Street resident contacted the Kalispell Police Department after coming home from vacation and discovering his garage door opener didn’t work. He told police he had discovered his neighbor’s garage door opener had also failed and one of his coworkers told him they returned home to find their garage door open.

A Denver Avenue man left his home for a few hours after getting into an argument with his girlfriend, then contacted police after he returned home and couldn’t find her. She was found, safe but drunk, hiding out in the trunk of a car.

A driver distracted by drugs ran a red light and nearly ran down a woman in a Third Avenue East North crosswalk. The pedestrian yelled at the woman to get off her phone and noticed the woman was smoking what appeared to be a marijuana pipe.

A College Avenue resident shared his concern that cars drive too fast near his house and around the corner, an area frequented by deer, turkeys, and children.

A dozen teenagers trying to make the most of their last month of summer break were reported yelling and running around at a school on Whitefish Stage Road at 11 p.m. They agreed to head home and keep the noise down out of respect for their neighbors.

A dedicated but ineffective burglar slashed 11 screens and bent one at a U.S. 93 North building, but was unable to get inside.

A concerned Scenic Drive resident contacted the Columbia Falls Police Department after a woman came to his door asking him all sorts of questions, possibly casing the area. It turned out the woman was with a bunch of boys selling items door to door.

Creston Fire was dispatched to Rebecca Farms Wednesday morning after an 18-year-old girl was thrown from a horse, sustaining a possible back injury.
