Deputies can't help nameless man

A man refusing to identify himself other than as “a representative of the family” contacted the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office and asked to speak to a deputy regarding a previously reported dispute between Terry Road neighbors. He demanded badge numbers and asked why deputies showed up at his house. He was told the office could not give him any information unless he gave them his name, which he continued to refuse, saying the sheriff’s office was in the wrong.

An adventurous adolescent was seen “surfing” on top of a vehicle full of teenagers on Capistrano Drive.

A shocked Idaho Hill Road resident in Marion reported the neighbors — whom the resident had reported for their unruly dogs — had put up a sign in their yard saying the resident was a pedophile.

A drunken man was arrested for assaulting his girlfriend after she threw her keys into a parking lot to keep him from leaving.

A distraught motorist reported someone in a vehicle ahead of her on Montana 40 West near Columbia Falls threw two cats out the window. She said her husband also witnessed heartless act. An officer was unable to locate any injured or dead cats, or any evidence of cats being struck by or thrown from a vehicle.

A Lion Mountain Drive woman reported her ex-husband broke out all the windows on her vehicle.

A Ridgewood Drive man reported being harassed over the phone by someone who threatened to “blow up his crippled (expletive).”

A suspicious man wearing an “I’m sexy and I know it” T-shirt was reported soliciting on Hodgson Road.

A distracted motorist may have left behind a gift for the homeless in the area between Columbia Falls and Whitefish after a mattress and a bed frame fell out of the back of his vehicle on a back road.

A violent 15-year-old girl was arrested for partner or family member assault after attacking her mother, possibly breaking her arm.

A group of 10 to 20 street racers were reported as part of an ongoing problem on North Mission Drive.

A bereaved bicyclist got his pep back after reporting to the Kalispell Police Department that his $1,800 bicycle had been stolen from a friend’s North Main Street home. Biker and bike were reunited — the pricey bicycle had been misplaced, not stolen.

A man was reported acting strange on Sherry Lane, getting nervous and yelling at one person when the person threatened to call police, and then being reported going door to door asking for two of his friends.


The Whitefish Police Department got a report of some particularly unusual suspicious behavior on Central Avenue, where roughly 20 people were seen “loitering and singing and blocking traffic.” They were advised to move along, and an officer remained in the area to ensure they did.

A pair of suspicious men were reported after showing up at the door of a Park Avenue property, saying they were on a speech and debate team. It was later determined that they were telling the truth.

A group of 15 transients on bicycles took a brief hiatus from their travels behind a U.S. 93 West hall. When an officer responded, they were packing up and getting ready to head to Glacier National Park. The officer called the park to let them know the group was on its way.

A man reported acting suspiciously on JP Road was found by an officer to be “homeless but harmless.”


Columbia Falls Police Department separated a group of very drunk and combative people after getting in a fight at a Nucleus Avenue bar.
