Man pleads not guilty after vehicle rollover
A Kalispell man has pleaded not guilty to felony criminal endangerment after rolling his vehicle, then allegedly testing positive for methamphetamine in the emergency room.
William Greenfield, 40, was determined by a Montana Highway Patrol trooper to have drifted of the road, then overcorrected, causing the vehicle to roll, according to a court document. The document alleges that when Greenfield spoke to the trooper at the hospital, he was unable to explain why he crashed.
Greenfield’s son allegedly told the trooper his father had not slept for three days. The trooper was unable to speak with passenger Shelby Greenfield, who had to be flown to the hospital by the ALERT helicopter. She could not speak due to her extensive injuries.
Child Protective Services later contacted the trooper after they were reportedly told by the hospital about Greenfield’s alleged positive test for meth.
If convicted, Greenfield faces up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $50,000. He is currently released after posting a $15,000 bond.
His next hearing is set for Oct. 16.
