Who cooked up this $5,000 heist?
The Whitefish Police Department received reports of thefts from a pair of businesses. A Central Avenue bakery reported someone had stolen about $5,000 from a bank deposit, while an East Second Street business reported a till containing roughly $200 was stolen from a register.
A drunk motorist who reportedly urinated on himself in a Baker Avenue parking lot made it home and inside before an officer was able to locate the man.
A repentant alcoholic admitted to police that he was 100 percent in the wrong when he threatened to kill the boyfriend of a former coworker. The man said he was dealing with an alcohol problem and sometimes acts out in such a way, but promised not to contact the woman anymore.
A group of squatters were reported showing up to a Lake Drive property in a bus and moving in.
The street department was notified of a “nice note for the Kalispell Police Department spray-painted in the street.”
A Ruddy Duck Drive resident outsmarted a group of area children, who were caught on video knocking on his door then running away. The resident said the youths’ game was an ongoing issue.
A man standing on U.S. 93 North holding a sign and asking passing motorists for money along with two or three others was advised of the new panhandling ordinance.
A Taser was found in a U.S. 2 West parking lot.
The wary manager of a Ninth Street West convenience store contacted the Columbia Falls Police Department after seeing a group of four people in a vehicle possibly casing the business. The men drove away when they heard the manager calling police.
The Polson Police Department was kept on its toes Tuesday, responding to thefts on Main Street, 10th Avenue West, and Fifth Avenue East, as well as at a gas station and an apartment complex. Officers also investigated assaults on 10th Avenue East and at Sacajawea Park, and responded to a partner or family member assault with injury on 16th Avenue East.
