B&B project rekindled in Whitefish
A bed-and-breakfast inn planned along U.S. 93 west of Whitefish will be the focus of a public hearing at tonight’s Whitefish City Council meeting.
Ryan Zinke is seeking a conditional-use permit to operate Snow Frog Inn with six guest rooms and live-in manager quarters at 409 W. Second St. The Whitefish Planning Board last month recommended approval of the project.
Zinke proposed a similar plan last fall as part of a project that would have included a microbrewery across the street. He withdrew that application before the council could hold a hearing. Neighbors were concerned about the increased traffic and intrusion a microbrewery would create in the largely residential area, and questioned how much commercial development should be allowed along the highway corridor.
A second public hearing at tonight’s meeting will consider a conditional-use permit for the Wave Aquatic and Fitness Center to add a 9,200-square-foot addition at its Baker Avenue facility.
Starting at 4:30 p.m. the council will conduct interviews with candidates for various city committees, including the new U.S. 93 West Corridor Plan Steering Committee.
The regular council meeting begins at 7:10 p.m. at Whitefish City Hall.
