An upset man contacted the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office to report a vehicle trade gone bad. The man said when he traded his vehicle, the one he then received was not what he was expecting, and that when he asked for his original vehicle back, he instead received pictures of its new owners breaking it.

A nostalgic woman drew the attention of nearby residents and eventually deputies after her vehicle was seen in front of a Whitefish home whose owners were out of the state. It turned out that the woman was a family member of the property’s former owner, and while she had not approached the main house, had spent some time in the guest cabin, which was unlocked. She was advised not to return and that she would be cited if the homeowners wanted charges to be filed.

A disgruntled Bigfork man called 911 to complain that a man keeps harassing him, wanting to know why he hadn’t been arrested yet. He refused to give a dispatcher his name, becoming very belligerent and shouting profanities before hanging up on the dispatcher when asked where he was in Bigfork.

A Hungry Horse woman on First Avenue North West complained about a vicious dog she said tried to bite her several times and had just tried to bite her in her yard. She said the dog was constantly out, chasing her as well as people on the road. A deputy was able to locate the dog — a Pomeranian — and returned it to its fenced yard.

A puggle and a Labrador retriever cross were caught and taken to the animal shelter after running loose in a U.S. 93 South business for two hours.

A Lindsey Lane man called 911 to report a grizzly bear — later correctly identified as a brown-colored black bear — in his yard and said he would shoot it if it got any closer. He eventually shot at the bear, which then walked to his neighbor’s house.

An irate man called 911 after an accident on Trumble Creek Road. He reported that he had been riding his all-terrain vehicle roughly 30 miles per hour when another man in a Jeep passed him and then slammed on his brakes, causing him to hit the Jeep. The motorist then allegedly threatened to kill the man.

A motorcyclist was seen traveling at more than 100 miles per hour with a passenger on U.S. 2 East near Columbia Falls after having been seen passing people in no passing zones through the Canyon earlier in the day.


The Kalispell Police Department was called to Sunny View Lane for a man acting strangely, who told several youths that they were bad, was trying to touch them, somewhat aggressively pushed one, asked for the youths’ names, asked for their parents’ names, and told one of the youths to “stand up, boy.”

A man was arrested after punching a woman in the face on U.S. 93 North, leaving her with a loose tooth and a bloodied face.

A protective parent reported a nail tech at a South Main Street business, believed now by the parent to be under the influence of drugs, made her daughter’s nails bleed.

A senior was reported after breaking into the home of her great-granddaughter — for whom she is the landlord — by using a wrench.

An angry woman was served with a warrant and cited for two counts of assault after taking a swing at a case manager at a Windward Way business.

A man was seen beating on a woman in a vehicle on Sixth Avenue West North before jumping out, at which point the woman tried to run him over. When they were counseled later by an officer, they both denied any physical conflict had occurred.

A man was arrested for drunk driving after hitting a parked car on Ninth Avenue West, leaving parts all over the road.

A 19-year-old threw an ax through the garage door of a Bing Court home.


An angry mother contacted the Whitefish Police Department after a pair of teenage neighbor boys apparently shot her 9-year-old son with a BB gun.

A Willow Brook Close woman reported more than $20,000 worth of furniture was stolen from her apartment. Based on the details she provided, she was told the matter was a civil issue.


A concerned woman contacted the Columbia Falls Police Department after smelling marijuana “really bad” at an apartment on Fourth Avenue West.


The Montana Department of Transportation reported Montana 37 was closed at the Koocanusa Bridge roughly 12 miles south of Eureka shortly before 4 p.m. due to a truck on fire pulling a trailer containing propane bottles. The road was opened to single-lane traffic by 5 p.m.
