Flathead native Max Campbell releases first EP
A singer originally from Kalispell is getting ready to release her first EP.
Max Campbell’s “Wings” will be available June 21.
Campbell grew up in Kalispell and moved to Bozeman after graduating from high school. She has been writing music since elementary school, when she and her sister had a band in their basement.
“Throughout middle school and high school, I learned to play the guitar but I never exactly fell in love with it; that came later,” Campbell said.
“My freshman year of college I suffered with depression, and music was my outlet. I wrote about my experiences growing up, moving on, unrequited love and the people who affected me along the way. These are the themes that I used to create the music in my EP ‘Wings.’”
Campbell says her music is influenced by female-fronted indie rock bands such as Tegan and Sara, Now Now and Sick of Sarah.
“My style is generally more acoustic and folksy because I have always played on my own, and my songs are thus only guitar and voice,” she said. “My goal is to make music that is relateable to almost anyone but also incredibly personal.”
