Legion baseball: Mariners pick up 3 wins at tourney

HELENA — Bradley Pichler picked up the victory on the mound and drove in two runs to help Mission Valley’s Mariners slip past the Laurel Dodgers 11-10 in eight innings Saturday at the Cloninger Classic American Legion baseball tournament.

Laurel jumped out to an 8-1 lead after two innings, but Mission Valley tied it up with a seven-run fourth inning.

It was the third-straight win at the Helena tournament for the Mariners.

On Friday, Kellen Hoyt and JT Probst combined on a 1-hitter as the Mariners dropped the Tri County Cardinals 9-0. Hoyt, four innings, struck out six, walked two and gave up a single. Probst had three strikeouts and issued no walks in relief.

Also Friday, Mission Valley topped the Vauxhall Spurs 5-3. Brennan Andrews led the Mariners at the plate, going 3 for 3. Jeremiah Crawford had two RBIs.

Tournament play ends today.

WHITEFISH — The Glacier Twins split a doubleheader with the Missoula Mavericks at Memorial Field.

Austin Robins and Ryley Nahrgang shared mound duties in the Twins B 4-2 victory in Game 1.

Missoula scored all of its runs in the second inning of Game 2 en route to a 5-2 victory over the Twins A.

FLORENCE — It was a long day for the Kalispell A Lakers in a conference doubleheader with the Bitterroot Bucs.

Cody Rolshoven held Kalispell without a hit in the opener, a 25-0 victory for the Bitterroot Bucs.

Bitterroot won the second game 11-1.

In both outings, Bitterroot scored 10 runs in the first inning.

The Lakers play a nonconference doubleheader on Monday at the Missoula Mavericks.

LIBBY — The Libby Loggers swept a doubleheader with the Glacier Twins B on Friday night.

Will Reichel, 3 for 3, and Micah Germany 2 for 2 and a home run, powered the Loggers to a 7-6 victory in the first game. Germany finished with 3 RBIs.

Austin Robins went 3 for 4 for Glacier. He doubled and drove in two runs. Kyler Howke also doubled for the Twins.

In the second game, Libby used a five-run sixth inning to break it open.

Reichel and Andrew Haggerty had two hits each and Germany drove in two runs.

Colin Bowman, Colton Gove and Kyler Howke all had two hits for Glacier.
