Artists welcome at Fortine workshop
Aspiring artists from the all over the United States will converge on Fortine this summer.
Montana Art Workshop instruction staff host the Montana Art Experience in Fortine Aug. 27 through Sept. 3. The workshop will take place at Laughing Water Guest Ranch.
All levels of artists are invited to apply. Artists accepted into the workshop will work with nationally renowned artists in foundation studies, studio painting, sculpting, and pastel and plein air painting.
This year’s instructors include workshop director Wanda Mumm (oils) of Eureka, and Nancy Foureman (watercolors) of Ohio. These talented instructors have been working with workshop artists for a number of years and will work closely with each artist to enhance their artistic abilities. Both artists have received the Rose Award for excellence in teaching art.
The instructors will be available for critiques of the attendees’ work, and each will give demonstrations.
A class on pastel and sculpture will be given, as well as oil and watercolor classes. This year’s workshop also will have a segment to work with lighting techniques and the progression of light on objects. Students also will delve into the sunset and sunrise coloration of skies. Color mixing and color placement will be worked on to improve depth and interest.
Class size will be limited to 20, allowing each person to receive ample time with the instructors.
The cost of the workshop is $825 for double occupancy and will include room, board and instruction fees. Single occupancy rooms are $1,025. Spouses may attend for a lower, nonparticipation fee.
The deadline to apply and for a $425 deposit is June 30.
Students may register by contacting Mumm at 527 Freedom Drive, Eureka, MT, 59917; or lwmumm@yahoo.com. Call her at (406) 889-5187 for additional information.
