Copper-cable thief faces prison time
A Kalispell man is facing up to 33 years in prison after admitting allegations against him in a pair of cases as well as violations of a past sentence.
Dustin Marvin, 28, pleaded guilty May 30 in Flathead District Court to felony charges of burglary and theft stemming from two incidents just 10 days apart.
The theft charge came after Marvin tried to steal a large coil of copper welding cable from LHC, while the burglary charge was filed after Marvin, wearing a black ski mask, was caught on the property of Rocky Mountain Contractors trying to steal several rolls of copper wire.
Marvin also admitted violating his three-year deferred sentence for a 2010 theft conviction.
In addition to the possible prison time, Marvin also may be ordered to pay a fine of up to $100,000 when he is sentenced Aug. 29.
