Health-care seminar planned on Saturday

 Jim Oliverson of Kalispell Regional Medical Center and Eric Schindler, chief executive officer of Montana Unified School Trust, will speak Saturday at the Kalispell Hilton Garden Inn about the effects of health-care reform.

Oliverson and Schindler will talk at the HealthX Community Wellness Expo at the Hilton Garden Inn.

The expo includes speakers, seminars and demonstrations on health care and healthy lifestyles.

Colleen Karper of Kalispell Regional Medical Center will talk about diabetes care and prevention. Dr. Camden Kneeland will talk about integrative pain management.

Food preparation demonstrations from local vendors and health-care providers will run throughout the day. The HealthX Community Wellness Expo is free and open to the public from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Stage 1

10 a.m.: Kyle Kercher — health care for student athlete performance.

10:20 a.m.: Kimberly Irlbeck — The importance of gratitude in stress reduction and mental wellness.

11 a.m.: Colleen Karper — diabetes care and prevention.

11:40 a.m.: Cherie Ross — uses of essential oils.

12:20: Courtney Babcock, Blue Cross/Blue Shield — The Affordable Care Act .

12:45 p.m.: Jim Oliverson/ Eric Schindler — The Affordable Care Act  

3 p.m.: Dr. Camden Kneeland — Integrating alternative therapies for pain management.

3:50 p.m.: Dr. Don Bean — acupuncture; Dr. Steve Gordon — naturopathy, the integrative approach.

Stage 2

10 a.m.: Sandra Sitzman — Alternative therapies for brain trauma and memory loss

10:40: Mark Leitzel, Aikido — Harmonizing body mind and spirit; foundation principles for taking charge of your health.

11:20 a.m: Honey Newton — “What? You’re using a midwife?”

11:40 a.m.: Jeanette Cheney — The benefits of juice fasting.
