Schedule time on the 'clayground'

Getting muddy is not limited to the lake or garden. Adults and children can come to Stumptown Art Studio to spend some hands-on time at the “Clayground.”

Classes, workshops and private clay lessons are taught by resident potter Stephanie Seguin. Her own work in ceramics can be seen at the studio, 145 Central Ave., Whitefish.

Youths ages 9 to 15 can take part in creating garden decorations June 24 through 28. This five-day camp is from 10 a.m. until noon each day. 

Seguin will teach students the basics of working with clay while make whimsical garden decorations. Imaginations will be explored to create garden gnomes, bird baths and garden stones. All the pieces will be glazed in class and ready to be picked up the following week.

Throughout the summer, Stumptown Art Studio offers is hands-on Time at the Clayground. A custom clay class can be scheduled with Seguin. It includes two hours of instruction in wheel throwing or other techniques, all materials, firings and one independent visit back to glaze pieces.

A minimum of three students is required with a $65 fee — $55 for members — per student. Call 862-5929 to schedule a day and time.
