Travis Vincent, a 2008 Bigfork High School graduate, received a prestigious Fulbright Scholarship to conduct research at Kuban State University, Krasnodar, Russia.

The Fulbright program provides participants — chosen for their academic merit and leadership potential — with the opportunity to study, teach and conduct research toward finding solutions to shared international concerns.

Krasnodar rests on the Black Sea, 1,300 miles south of Moscow.

It is in a multicultural region inhabited by more than 30 Asian, European and Caucasian ethnic groups, in addition to ethnic Russians.

Vincent’s research will examine if and how these groups have integrated into local politics and policy in the past decade. He will be enrolled in regional studies courses while conducting research.

Vincent received a Bachelor of Arts degree in both economics and Russian language from the University of Montana in 2012. He is the son of Dan Vincent of Bigfork and Trena Thomson of Colorado Springs, Colo.
