Baseball: Loggers fall to Missoula, 4-2

MISSOULA — Libby couldn’t get on base early and failed to knock in runs late, losing 4-2 to the Missoula Mavericks in an American Legion conference baseball game to on Tuesday.

The Loggers left four runners stranded in the last four innings, and failed to get a hit for the first three in the loss.

Missoula scored on a single in the first inning and again in the fourth to take a 2-0 lead. Libby answered with two in the sixth but a hit batter, a double and a throwing error in the bottom half of the inning scored two for the Mavs, the last of the game.

Loggers’ pitcher Micah Germany threw 5 2/3 innings with three strikeouts. Will Reichel and Josh Foote each went 2 for 3 from the plate.

The Loggers host the Big Bucks tournament this weekend in Libby. Play begins Thursday and continues through Sunday.

WILLISTON, N.D. — The Glacier Twins finished the Williston, N.D., Tournament with wins over Powell, Wyo., and Miles City.

The Twins scored nine runs in the first and five in the second in the runaway win against Powell. Hugh Ramlow tripled and drove in four runs and Brandon Maassen pitched all five innings to earn the win.

Glacier rallied from an early deficit to beat Miles City, scoring six runs in the second inning and one in the third.
