July 4 has 2 concerts at 1 venue

| June 19, 2013 5:00 PM

Get twice the bang for your buck at a July 4 concert in Columbia Falls.

The Fourth of July double header features the Ashley Creek Ramblers and the Flathead Valleyaires. The concert, part of the Columbia Falls Lions Club’s Community Concert in the Park series, starts at 7 p.m.

Roy Wilhelm and the Ashley Creek Ramblers play danceable country ballroom swing music and are regulars at several venues around the valley — particularly those with great dance floors.

The Flathead Valleyaires are a Kalispell-based men’s barbershop chorus who will, in honor of the holiday, present a concert of upbeat patriotic tunes and classic a cappella harmonies.

Two barbershop quartets are scheduled to appear alongside the Valleyaires. A mixed barbershop quartet, Too Sharp to be Flat, will take a musical journey through America with tunes from “Home on the Range” all the way to “Coney Island Baby.” The men’s quartet Classic Touch will demonstrate how harmony can be so tight that it rings.

The show takes place at the Don Lawrence Amphitheater in Marantette Park along U.S. 2 East in Columbia Falls. Picnics are encouraged; bring chairs and blankets.

A donation of $3 each or $5 per family is requested.
