Oliver James 'Jim' Davey, 92

Oliver James “Jim” Davey, 92, passed away Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at Greenwood Assisted Living in Kalispell. 

He was born Sept. 10, 1920, in Rockford, Wash., to Oliver James Davey Sr. and Nanny Baker. Jim attended grade school in Rockford and went to Lewis and Clark High School in Spokane. 

He worked at the Spoksman Review. Jim moved to Kalispell in 1938 where he married Laura Smith on June 20, 1938. 

He was a World War II veteran, and after the war he came back to the Flathead Valley to live and raise his family. He started Davey Hill Motor Company and ran it from 1944 to 2004. It was the oldest car dealership in the valley.  

Jim was preceded in death by his wife in 2007, and one son, Kenneth, in 1948. 

He is now survived by one son, Larry Davey and wife Maxine, and one daughter, Darlene Sturzen and husband John, all of Kalispell; also grandchildren, Kent and Paula Davey, Keith and Michelle Davey, David and Jessica Sturzen, and Tom and Brittany Sturzen; and eight great-grandchildren.

Graveside services for Jim will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 29, at C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery with Chaplain Bob Thornton officiating. 

The family suggests memorials be given to Frontier Hospice in Kalispell.
