Hungry Horse man guilty in shooting case
A 40-year-old Hungry Horse man pleaded guilty Feb. 28 in Flathead District Court to a felony count of assault with a weapon.
On July 21, 2012, Bell, his girlfriend Leaha Terrell, 29, also of Hungry Horse, and two of her relatives were headed toward Bell’s residence after a friend told them he was being threatened by people with a baseball bat. As they drove up, Terrell shouted “Shoot them, Ray, shoot them!”
The pair then saw Bell aim a long gun at them and fire several shots.
Bell also was charged with a second count of felony assault with a weapon and misdemeanor resisting arrest, but those charges were dropped in exchange for him pleading guilty to the first assault charge.
Terrell was given a five-year suspended sentence Jan. 17 and was ordered to pay fines, fees and surcharges.
