Nationals lose playoff opener
BREMERTON, Wash. — The Glacier Nationals scored first, but West Sound countered with five unanswered goals as the Warriors won 5-1 in the Cascade Cup playoff opener for both teams.
Chris Cutshall scored Glacier’s opening goal 5 minutes and 2 seconds into the first period, but West Sound’s Henry Huerta tied it up less than five minutes later and Mitchell Pijanowski gave the Warriors a 2-1 lead at the first intermission.
Pijanowski and Max McInnis added power-play goals in the second and third periods and Addison Edwards scored West Sound’s final goal with 1:18 remaining.
The Warriors outshot the Nationals 46-30.
The best of five series continues today at 8:35 p.m. at Bremerton Rink. The actions shifts to Whitefish for game three on Friday.
