Volunteers needed for Creston Auction
Volunteers are needed for the 47th annual Creston Auction and Country Fair and auto, marine, RV and equipment sale.
The 2013 auction will be April 5 to 7 in Creston, 12 miles east of Kalispell. The three-day event is run entirely by volunteers and raises money for the rural Creston Fire Department.
People interested in volunteering are invited to attend a meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, at the Creston Fire Station, 4498 Montana 35.
During auction weekend, help is needed between 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday to unload trucks and trailers as items are dropped off at the sale site. Volunteers can help for the morning, afternoon or even a couple of hours after work.
The auction starts at 9 a.m. Saturday and noon Sunday. With multiple food stations, an indoor rummage sale and the outdoor auction, there are areas suited for everyone to help out.
The fire department particularly needs people who can hold up auction items, like to work with food and can help with kitchen and grounds cleanup.
Food and drink will be available to all volunteers throughout each day. Volunteers are reminded to dress warmly and for the weather.

The Creston Auction is the Creston Fire Department’s annual fundraiser. The money raised at last year’s auction paid for the new training building for the fire department and other renovations of the Lake Blaine training facility. Money raised at this year’s event will allow the Creston Fire Department to complete the project, without using tax dollars.
