Music school faculty plan concert

| March 13, 2013 7:30 PM

North Valley Music School’s faculty will perform a concert March 23 in Whitefish.

The concert runs from 7 to 9 p.m. at the O’Shaughnessy Center, 1 Central Ave. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Select music school students will play in the lobby prior to the concert, and refreshments and raffle tickets for door prizes will be available.

The faculty concert is a fundraiser for North Valley Music School, Montana’s only nonprofit music school.

Tickets are $10 for general admission, or $5 for students and seniors, and are available at North Valley Music School, 432 Spokane Ave., Whitefish. The school is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

Tickets will also be available at the door the night of the concert.

North Valley Music School teachers spend countless hours teaching the 300 students who take private lessons at the school. This is an opportunity to showcase their other talents as performing musicians.

The concert will feature a fun mix of all types of music, from classical to pop to show tunes to bluegrass.

North Valley Music School faculty includes Jesse Ahmann, cello; Laura Arnold, piano and voice; Tina Bertram, piano and claw hammer banjo; Diane Dickerson, piano and harp; Judy Doxtater, piano; Christian Johnson, guitar, mandolin and fiddle; Don Rees, guitar and banjo; Jenanne Solberg, piano, violin and viola; Sam Taylor, violin, viola, guitar and fiddle; Billy Thompson, piano and voice; Marisa van Lawick, Music Together and youth group classes; and April Vogel, voice.
