The body of a Kalispell woman was found in Glacier National Park Thursday afternoon.

Flathead County Sheriff Chuck Curry said Friday morning that the cause of death of Amy Marie Reddig, 28, is still under investigation, but “there certainly was no evidence of foul play found.”

Her body was transported to the state crime lab in Missoula for an autopsy, and the results have yet to be released, Curry said.

A search had been mobilized Thursday after Reddig's car was found at Lake McDonald Lodge just before noon.

At approximately 3 p.m. personnel in a search-and-rescue helicopter spotted Reddig's body near the head of Lake McDonald.

“She was found in the water off the mouth of McDonald Creek,” Curry said.

Reddig was the daughter of Billy and Lynne Reddig and sister of Heather Reddig, all of Kalispell.

A widespread search was begun after her car was found, with volunteers combing trails and checking cabins in the area.

The search included personnel from the Flathead National Forest, Flathead County Sheriff’s Office, Flathead Search and Rescue, North Valley Search and Rescue, and Flathead Emergency Aviation Resources as well as Glacier Park rangers and employees.

Reddig initially was reported missing at 5 p.m. Wednesday.

A 911 call log states that she had schizophrenia, did not show up for work as expected, and that some notes were found where Reddig was discussing suicide.
