A rash of burglaries has Kalispell police on alert and looking to the community for help.

Detective Zeb Dobis said the department has been investigating lots of commercial burglaries and quite a few residential burglaries, while churches have been one of the most popular targets.

“There’s no rhyme or reason to it, and right now we don’t have much of a lead on anything,” Dobis said.

He said it is possible some of the burglaries are being perpetrated by the same person or people, but they were not all the work of the same suspect.

“The main thing in all these burglaries is that it’s mostly cash they’re taking,” Dobis said. “The most that has been taken is maybe $500 or $600, but most have been anywhere from $200 to $300. They’re leaving all the computer stuff behind, ignoring other valuables in the businesses.”

Dobis said business owners should not leave any cash behind when they close and should leave some outside lights on at night, as well as making sure they lock all the doors and windows.

Anyone with information on the burglaries is asked to call the Kalispell Police Department at 758-7780 or Flathead Crimestoppers at 752-8477.

Callers may remain anonymous and could receive a reward of up to $1,000 if the information they provide leads to an arrest.
