Man admits federal crime

During U.S. District Court proceedings in Missoula on Monday, a 33-year-old Kalispell man pleaded guilty receipt of obscenity.

According to a news release from the U.S. Department of Justice, Dustin Gilpin was the resident of a home to which an Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force investigation traced an IP address offering known child pornography files for download online.

A pair of computers were seized from Gilpin’s home.

Pictures on both computers showed children engaged in sexual activity.

The photos were associated with the peer-to-peer file sharing program LimeWire.

Gilpin faces up to five years in prison, three years of probation and a fine of up to $250,000 when he is sentenced on July 2.

He is currently released on special conditions.

The Madison County Sheriff’s Office, Flathead County Sheriff’s Office and Montana Division of Criminal Investigation participated in the investigation.
