Actors wanted for last show of the season

| March 20, 2013 6:00 PM

Whitefish Theatre Company holds auditions for its final production of the season, “Becky’s New Car,” on April 7 and 8.

Auditions begin at 6 p.m. both nights at the O’Shaughnessy Center in Whitefish. Actors are asked arrive early in the green room to fill out an application and review the script.

Have you ever been tempted to flee your own life?  “Becky’s New Car,” written by Steven Dietz, is a contemporary comedy with serious overtones that stages a devious and delightful romp down the road not taken. Becky Foster is caught in middle age, middle management and in a middling marriage. When a wealthy suitor presumes she is a widow — and she doesn't correct him — she finds herself literally crossing a double yellow line between the competing roads in her life until it quickly and hilariously accelerates out of her control.

Viewers are offered a chance to ride shotgun to Becky’s journey as she breaks the “fourth wall” by addressing and engaging people in the audience.

The cast will be made up of three women and three men, ages 20 to 60. No experience is necessary, and no preparation is required for the audition.

Linda Grinde is the director for this production.

Total time commitment is six weeks of rehearsal Monday through Friday. There are seven cabaret performances over three weekends on May 23-25, May 31, and June 1, 7, and 8.
