Zoltek and friends perform jazz show
John Zoltek, Glacier Symphony and Chorale music director, will put down his baton and take the stage as a guitarist for Jazz Night with the Maestro March 28.
The event is part of the Glacier Symphony and Chorale’s Symphony Soloist Spotlight, a series of five informal concerts held in the Alpine Ballroom at 333 S. Main St. in Kalispell.
Zoltek and a selection of accomplished musical friends will offer an entertaining evening of standard, modern and contemporary jazz music in the intimate setting. Joining Zoltek will be Erica von Kleist on saxophone and flute; Don Caverly, percussion; Paul Faessel, bass; Grant Sorlie, vibraphone; and Amy Zoltek, vocals.
The program will offer a variety of standard, modern and contemporary jazz music and will include selections penned by Wayne Shorter, John Coltrane and Carlos Jobim, as well as popular jazz tunes such as “When I Fall In Love,” “My Romance,” “This Masquerade,” “What’ll I Do,” “Killer Joe” and more.
Doors will open at 7 p.m. for the event that will be staged like a nightclub, with tables and a cash bar offering wine, beer and specialty drinks.
