James LaRoy Holcomb, 64

| March 21, 2013 10:00 PM

James LaRoy Holcomb, 64, passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at his Kalispell residence, of natural causes.

James was born Sept. 20, 1948, in Kalispell, to James A. and Grace (Cooper) Holcomb. He was raised in Kalispell and graduated from Flathead High School.

James was a disabled veteran and had served in the U.S. Navy.

James was known for his eternal "one-liners," and he worked hard at that.  “Now he has a whole new crowd to entertain! Now he is really finer than frogs hair split four ways.”

You may have seen Jimmie walking around town in his Carhartts and cowboy hat. He called it his Montana tuxedo.

He attended the First Baptist Church and Sunday School every Sunday.  Eating at the Back Room was a favorite of his. He loved to celebrate family dinners and birthdays, listen to Western music and talk.

Jimmie was preceded in death by his grandparents, Roy and Adelaide Cooper, and George and Maggie Holcomb; and his father, James Holcomb.

James is survived by his mother, Grace WIllis; sons, James Allen Holcomb and family, and Colin Dean Holcomb and family; sisters, Linda McMannamy and husband Reynold, Judy Sipe, Karen Kvaalen and husband Mark, Kathy Holcomb, and Vicki Adams and husband Mark; several grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Celebration of life services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 25, at Buffalo Hill Funeral Home.

Friends are encouraged to visit the website, www.buffalohillfh.com, to leave notes of condolence for the family. Buffalo Hill Funeral Home and Crematory is caring for the family.
