Cody William Moore, 32
Cody William Moore passed away in his home on Friday, March 22, 2013, at the age of 32. He was a lifelong resident of Kalispell, proud of his Montana roots and Montana’s history.
Cody was born on July 28, 1980, first child of Dan and Melanie Moore. He went to school in Evergreen through eighth grade and Columbia Falls High School, graduating in 1999. He enjoyed history in school and sports every other hour. He collected baseball cards to amazing levels, became a lifetime Cubs fan and played baseball himself from Peewees through Legion ball.
Cody also loved bow hunting, particularly with his dad and friends. He hunted Sitka blacktail deer and black bears in Alaska, feral hogs in Texas and deer and elk in Montana. His last hunt was his best, harvesting a record-book 7-by-7 bull elk last fall.
Cody tried several career choices — masonry, landscape design and forest fire fighting — before finding the most satisfaction as an engineering technician. This job took him all over Northwest Montana and into national parks such as Glacier and Yellowstone. He enjoyed many of the staff and clients he got to work with.
Although he had no kids of his own, not a Sunday went by where he didn't see his nieces and nephew. Even after an all-day wrestle match with three year old Maddox he still made time to play game after game with 10-year old Brooklyn. She won’t forget that her Uncle Cody would always be one of the faces in the crowd of all her sporting events. And Cody was one of the first to announce the birth of his new niece, Payton, on Facebook, Dec. 11, 2012.
Cody was very intelligent, hard-working, funny and thoughtful. He had a wicked temper, legs like tree trunks and a caring heart. He will be unforgettable.
Cody was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Robert Moore and Marvin Bennett.
He is survived by his parents, Dan and Melanie Moore; his sister, April and husband Michael Edwards, their three children, Brooklyn, Maddox and Payton, all of Kalispell; grandmothers, Vonda Moore of Kalispell and Patricia Bennett of Bigfork; and as well as many other relatives and friends.
There will be a viewing for family and friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 28, at Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home. Cody’s memorial service will be at noon on Friday, March 29, at The River on 859 W. Reserve Dr., Kalispell. He will be buried on family private property at a later date.
