Sculptor up for discussion at club meeting
Every month, Stumptown Art Studio’s Cultural and Art History Club meets to discuss a famous artist. Here are a few clues to help identify the artist on tap in April:
1. He is a French sculptor.
2. His work spanned the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
3. His subjects included the novelist Victor Hugo, the playwright Honoré de Balzac and a nameless man lost in thought.
If you guessed Auguste Rodin, congratulations. Join in the discussion about the sculptor at the club meeting, which takes place from 10 a.m. to noon April 9.
The club meets monthly to discuss a selected artist, his works, and the history and culture in which he lived. Those interested in attending the meeting are encouraged to do research about the artist of the month before they get to the studio.
Rosella Mosteller leads the discussions. Sign up for the club at the studio, 145 Central Ave., Whitefish, or just stop by. There is an annual membership charge or a $5 drop-in fee per meeting.
