Pet owners fight like cats and dogs

The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office was drawn into a dispute on Chinook Court West in Columbia Falls between residents fighting like the cats and dogs they owned.

The cat owners reported the dogs attacked their cat while the dogs’ owner laughed. The cat, they said, was now injured and limping. The dogs’ owner said the cat came on his property and the dogs chased it across the street.

Both parties were advised it would be in all their best interests to keep their animals on their own properties.

Officers arrested a rowdy 15-year-old girl on Rogers Lake Road in Kila after the girl cornered another girl, took her bike and chased her home before restraining her and throwing her on the ground. The victim had a restraining order against the girl at the time of the incident.

An observant passerby may have found drunken Waldo, reporting a very short, very drunk man wearing a white- and red-striped shirt and light blue pants — that he couldn’t seem to keep on — running through yards on Summit Avenue in Somers. The man was picked up by police and dropped off at another location.

A pair of kind motorists stopped to help a student who was in a fight with another student on Helena Flats Road.

A Chihuahua-dachshund cross named Chico was placed on doggie house arrest after biting a friend of its owner on U.S. 2 East in Kalispell.

A man reported his mentally challenged daughter — who had taken five Xanax anti-anxiety pills and had been drinking — had thrown a man to the floor on First Street West in Martin City and took his car. He said he was now concerned she was going to kill him and his family.

Someone broke into a Lake Park Lane home in Whitefish, destroying pictures and breaking a fish tank over the couch, leaving glass and fish everywhere, amid other extensive damage.

A Ferndale Drive resident in Bigfork reported someone was opening his mail, tearing it up and throwing it in the road.

A motorist was arrested during a traffic stop on Farm to Market Road.

A man was arrested on a misdemeanor warrant on Krause Lane.

Someone ripped the gate off a Whispering Pines property in Bigfork.

A wily man failed to outrun Kalispell Police officers after initially being found passed out in his vehicle in the parking lot of a Country Way North church. The man eventually regained consciousness, became combative and fled on foot before being apprehended. He was arrested and transported to the Flathead County Detention Center.

A motorist became unhinged after his tire came unattached from his vehicle on Jellison Road. The man reported someone had loosened all the lug nuts on the tire while the vehicle was parked at his house.

A suspicious man with binoculars sitting inside a van on First Avenue East told an officer he was just waiting for an interview at the job service.

A woman was removed from a Hutton Ranch Road store after she returned to the scene of the crime, where she had previously shoplifted.

A man possibly in his 60s stole alcohol from a West Idaho Street store.

Money was stolen from a purse at a Hutton Ranch Road store.

The Whitefish Police Department learned it’s good to be the king at a U.S. 93 South casino. Employees there said they would deal with a man who was being aggressive and trying to fight people over putting too much money in a machine “because he is a high roller.”

A vehicle was burglarized on Baker Avenue.

A Columbia Falls Police officer cited an uncooperative dog owner for having a vicious dog after the animal was seen fighting another dog on 11th Avenue West.

Residents of a Ninth Street West home unknowingly put a marijuana pipe in their yard in sight of a law enforcement officer.

Ronan Police arrested a person for criminal contempt while investigating a report of suspicious activity at a gas station.
