Dennis Patrick 'Pat' Greene, 92

Dennis Patrick “Pat” Greene, 92, passed away Thursday, March 28, 2013, at the Montana Veterans Home in Columbia Falls.

Pat was born Jan. 22, 1921, to Golden Silver Greene and Martha Whipper, and was raised in Backus, Minn.

Pat served 21 years with the Army Air Force. During World War II, he was stationed with the 357th Fighter group, 364th squadron. He served as crew chief - C5M in Luxemburg, England, from 1942 to 1945.

Pat retired from the military in 1965, then drove school bus in Backus for 20 years. He served as a volunteer for the Backus Fire Department and served as Backus mayor for seven years.

Pat enjoyed fishing in Alaska, and traveling to and from Minnesota for 16 years. He enjoyed bingo, cribbage and card games.

Pat lived in Columbia Falls with his best friend and longtime care giver, Gale (Reynolds) Bailey, and his dear canine friend Snoopy.

He was preceded in death by his son, Larry Greene.

Pat is survived by his five children, Martha Ann and Jim Huffman of Alaska, Sarah Greene of Massachusetts, Norma Brink of Alaska, Sue Feemster of California and Dennis and Mary Greene of Arizona; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and many friends in both Backus and Columbia Falls.

Pat was loved by many, and will be missed by all.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. on  Saturday, April 6, at Columbia Mortuary in Columbia Falls.
