Stuck hunters found safe
Two brothers out hunting for bears in the South Fork drainage attracted search-and-rescue efforts after a stuck pickup truck kept them from returning home Tuesday night.
According to Rick Upton with North Valley Search and Rescue, search teams went out at about 6 a.m. Wednesday and located the pair at about 8:18 a.m.
Upton said the men’s truck got stuck in the mud in a bay along Hungry Horse Reservoir.
“It was a happy outcome for all,” Upton said.
Upton’s agency — which used pickup trucks and all-terrain vehicles in the search — was joined by the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Chuck Curry was on the way to the area in his airplane to help search when he heard that the men had been found.
