Flathead Booster Club raises more than $33,000

The Flathead Booster Club has paved its own path since the combined Flathead/Glacier Booster Club split in July 2012.

The club has raised more than $33,000 through numerous fundraisers, raffles, barbecues and special events to support more than 20 Flathead High School clubs, activities, sports and academic programs.

“The split has been very good for both schools, I think,” Flathead Booster Club president Trina Stivers wrote in an email to The Daily Inter Lake.

The club is working to create activities that get students involved. On Friday, the club is hosting a Crosstown Freshman Frenzy Dance from 7 to 9 p.m. at Flathead High School for all students who will be freshmen in the fall.

Tickets are $5 in advance and $10 at the door.

More opportunities to support Flathead High School students are on the way and are posted at the club’s new website, www.flatheadboosterclub.org.

“We have been working very hard and have come a long way since July when the booster club split,” Stivers said.

One of the unique auctions being held is for the “best seats in the house,” during Flathead’s graduation ceremony May 31. People can bid on packages of 10 reserved seats and two front-row parking spots through a link to eBay on the club’s website.

Everyone makes an impact to support the school — whether they pay membership dues or buy a raffle ticket, Stivers said.

“One of the things we really want to tell the community is how much we appreciate them,” Stivers said. “Hundreds of people and businesses have become members of our club and hundreds more have purchased raffle tickets throughout the school year.”

Anyone can join the club and membership levels start at $35. The club also has created a membership option for alumni as a way to raise money for special projects. Currently, the project goal of alumni membership donations is raising $10,000 to create a new hall of fame area.

There are still some events that benefit both Glacier and Flathead booster clubs such as the Drive 4UR School event from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Valley Ford in Evergreen.

Ford Motor Co. will donate $20 for people who test-drive a vehicle for five to 10 minutes. Instead of salesmen, booster club members will sit in for the drive and hot dogs will be served.
