Artists may apply for studio tour
Artists and artisans working and living in the Flathead Valley are invited to participate in the Local Color Studio Tour.
This year’s tour, hosted by the Hockaday Museum of Art, takes place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 14 and 15.
Host artists will demonstrate their skills for visitors and engage the viewers in the creative process. This will be a juried event for artist studios and galleries with a working studio on the premises. A separate entrance is required.
Those who visit artist studios are given the opportunity to connect with the artist and their art on a more personal and individualized basis, understanding the artist’s motivation and inspirations. The opportunity to purchase or commission art is also a part of the Local Color Studio Tour.
In the past, the tour has included studios located in Bigfork, Columbia Falls, Kalispell, Lakeside and Whitefish. Free maps of all participating artists’ studios are created and made available in August at the Hockaday Museum and online.
The deadline for applications is June 29. Notifications will be mailed July 13.
For more information, call the museum at 755-5268 or visit www.hockadaymuseum.org under “Artist Opportunities.” The museum is located at 302 Second Ave. E., Kalispell.
