Softball: Libby one-hits Flathead
LIBBY — Libby pitcher Hannah England pitched 4 2/3 innings of no-hit ball, before surrendering a hit to Flathead in the final at bat in a 10-0 nonconference win Tuesday for the Loggers.
Kaitlin Torgerson broke up the no-hitter with a single, but overran first base and was thrown out to end the game.
“Hannah pitched a real good game,” Libby coach Dean Thompson said. “We hit the ball well and had good defense.”
Kelsey Klin went 3 for 3 from the plate with a pair of doubles and two RBIs to lead the Loggers (6-8 overall, 2-3 Northwestern A). Devon Gallagher was also a perfect 3 for 3 from the dish. Libby had 15 hits in the game.
“We haven’t hit like that all year,” Thompson said. “It was nice to see the bats come through. It was a beautiful day out.”
Libby heads to Frenchtown for its next game on Thursday before playing in the Butte Central tournament this weekend.
Flathead hosts Glacier for senior day on Thursday in a pair of games at Conrad Complex.
