Park plows head toward Logan Pass

Glacier National Park plow crews continue cutting their way toward Logan Pass, with the west-side crew advancing to the Big Bend area this week and the east-side plows working in the Siyeh Bend area.

The west crew plowed to the pavement in the Weeping Wall area and was encountering snow depths of 20 feet below avalanche chutes. The plows are about three miles from Logan Pass.

Progress on the east side allowed the vehicle closure to be moved to Jackson Glacier Overlook.

On the west side of the park, there is no hiking and biking beyond the vehicle closure at Avalanche Creek Monday through Thursday because of construction, but hikers and bikers can travel beyond the gate today through Sunday.

On the east side of the park, hikers and bikers can travel about one mile beyond the gate at Jackson Glacier Overlook.

Other routes are now open in the park, including the Camas Road, Chief Mountain Road, Cut Bank Road, Many Glacier Road and Two Medicine Road.
