Legion baseball: Winslow, Haggerty lift Loggers

LIBBY — Jared Winslow tossed a 1-hitter and Andrew Haggerty went 2 for 2 and drove in two runs as Libby opened its Loggertown Wood Bat Classic Friday night with a 10-0 victory over the Missoula Pioneers.

Winslow (2-0) fanned 16 batters. He struck out 10 in a row from the second through the fifth innings.

“Jared made it pretty easy on us the way he was pumping strikes,” Libby coach Kelly Morford said.

Libby put the game out of reach with a seven-run sixth inning.

Libby (2-3) is back in action today in the final game on Day 2 of the tournament versus Strathmore at 7:30 p.m.

Kootenai Valley plays Calgary at noon, Missoula faces Calgary at 2:30 p.m. and Strathmore plays Kootenai Valley at 5.

The tournament ends Sunday.
