Fast start for Whitefish at divisional track meet

WHITEFISH — The opening day of the Northwestern A divisional track meet on Friday was dominated by Whitefish.
Marlow Schulz and Allie Schulz had the best times in the 400 (56.50) and 100 hurdles (16.13), respectively, and the Bulldogs had at least one placer in all seven events to ring up an 89-point total to lead the five-team field.
Columbia Falls was second with 57.
Logan Harwood, Jace Kalbfleisch and Keaton Grove posted the top times in the 400 (50.23), 1,600 (4:45.86) and 110 hurdles (15.47) for the Whitefish boys. The Bulldogs scored points in all seven events to hit the century mark. They have a 50-lead on Frenchtown heading into today’s final session.
Whitefish also won the 400 relay (43.38) with Sean Foley, Jed Nagler, Iaian Cameron and Harwood.
Nakia Alexander of Columbia Falls won the triple jump (43-6 1/2) and Polson’s Riley Sampson had the best throw in the discus (157-6).
The Columbia Falls girls had three individual winners — Samantha Mundel in the 1,600 (5:27.72), Carla Nicosia in the triple jump (35-5 3/4) and Andrea Getts in the discus (98-4).
Polson won the 400 relay (51.68) with Alicia Sicz, Lydia Bowman, Erica Alfiero and Anna DiGiallonardo. The Pirates also had one individual winner with Claudia Hewston in the pole vault (9-0).
