The weekends are wide open for bicyclists and hikers on closed portions of Going-to-the-Sun Road in Glacier National Park.

Today and Sunday there are no restrictions on hikers and bikers on the west side of Going-to-the-Sun Road, while the east-side road is similarly open to hiker/biker traffic today through Monday.

Motorists can drive 15.5 miles from the West Entrance to Avalanche and 13.5 miles from the St. Mary Entrance to Jackson Glacier Overlook.

The section of the road between Avalanche and Jackson Glacier Overlook is closed to vehicles due to plowing.

Monday through Thursday there is no hiker/biker access past Avalanche until 6 p.m. On Friday, hikers and bikers can travel as far as Bird Woman Falls overlook (three miles past the Loop) all day.

On the east side of the park, hikers and bikers can travel to Siyeh Bend Tuesday through Friday.

Park plowing crews have passed Triple Arches on the east side and Siyeh Bend on the west side in their annual march up the mountain highway toward Logan Pass.

For motorists, several other roads in Glacier — Camas, Chief Mountain, Many Glacier and Two Medicine roads — are open.

The Inside North Fork Road is open for eight miles between Polebridge and the head of Big Prairie. The Cut Bank Road is closed at the park boundary.
