Canadian Days tournament: Reds rally by Lakers

The Calgary Reds overcame a three-run deficit to defeat the Kalispell Lakers 11-5 in a AA American Legion baseball game on a wet Saturday at Griffin Field.

Sean O’Connell and Adam Frandsen delivered RBI-singles in the first inning to spot the Lakers a 3-0 lead, but the Reds exploded for nine runs in the fourth.

Calgary pitcher Brodie Stairs tallied six strikeouts in a complete game.

Kalispell starter Hank McLeod took the loss, allowing five runs on three hits and three walks. He struck out five.

In other Canadian Days tournament action, Calgary defeated Spokane 3-2 and Sherwood Park topped Edmonton 12-7. Two evening games were rained out.

The Lakers (7-7) continue the tournament today with games at 11:30 a.m. and 7 p.m.
