Legion baseball: Glacier Twins take 2 from Bucs

FLORENCE — The Glacier Twins A opened conference play by sweeping the Bitterroot Bucs in American Legion baseball doubleheader play on Saturday.

Zac Darling tripled in three runs in the third inning of the first game, helping the Twins post a 14-1 victory.

Brandon Maassen and Austin Robins combined on a 2-hitter in the second game and struck out nine as the Twins pulled out a 2-1 victory.

Shane Marcial scored the game-winning run for the Twins in the fifth inning of the nightcap. He reached on a walk, stole second and moved to third on a passed ball. He advanced home on a throwing error by the catcher to third base.

Kyler Howke went 3 for 4 for Glacier in the opener. Peter Seymor, 2 for 3, doubled.

Colton Gove had two of Glacier’s three hits in the second game.

Glacier (10-6 overall, 2-0 conference) plays a conference doubleheader today at Salmon, Idaho.
