Children's art drive launches May 28

| May 22, 2013 5:00 PM

Hanna’s Dream Inc. hosts its annual art drive May 28, through May 31.

The drive collects art supplies for donation to children around the world. It was created in honor of Hanna Cini, a Fair-Mont-Egan School student who died in a car accident in 2009 at age 6.

At age 5, Hanna told her mother that she’d had a dream about how to help the sad, crying children she’d seen on a television commercial. Hanna said she’d dreamt they gave those children art supplies to help them deal with their sadness, and that maybe the children could sell their artwork to help them buy food and clothes.

Since her death, Hanna’s mother, Robin Lyon, has helped make her daughter’s dream come true. Hanna’s Dream has donated more than $25,000 in art supplies domestically and around the world since the nonprofit formed.

Those donations are possible with help from the local community. The fifth annual art drive will collect art supplies and funds to support the mission of Hanna’s Dream.

Fair-Mont-Egan, 797 Fairmont Road, Kalispell, is the main dropoff location; call 755-7072 for more information. All Copper Mountain Coffee kiosks in Kalispell and Libby will also be accepting donations next week; call 257-4600 or visit www.coppermountaincoffee.com.

The drive wraps up with a free concert. The Copper Mountain Band plays from 2 to 3 p.m. in the Fair-Mont-Egan School gym; everyone is welcome.

Free coffee will be available during the concert. Hanna’s Dream T-shirts, whole bean Copper Mountain Coffee and baked goods will be sold.
