Class B golf: Vikings duo finish all-state

BIGFORK — Bigfork’s Blake Weimer and Lars Gittings placed seventh and eighth, respectively, at the Class B state golf tournament at Eagle Bend Golf Club Wednesday.

The two Bigfork golfers earned medals for their top-15 finishes.

Weimer shot an 8-over-par 80 in the first round on Tuesday and matched that score again Wednesday. Gittings shot a 79 in the opening round and followed it up with an 82.

Missoula Loyola’s Tom Swanson shot a two-round score of 141 to win his third straight state title, beating second-place Justin Galiher, also from Loyola, by 11 strokes.

Loyola won the team title with a score of 616. Red Lodge was second and Thompson Falls third.

Bigfork’s Maddie Lorang was disqualified from the girls’ tournament after missing her tee time. She was tied for 25th entering the day after shooting a 109 in the opening round.

Loyola’s Maggie Crippen won the individual title with a two-round score of 150. Her sister, Sadie, was second with a 155. Maggie finished her high school career as a three-time state champion.

Townsend edged Loyola 732-745 for the team title. Huntley Project was third.
